Our Foundational Pillars
Learner-centered instruction focuses on improving student learning, critical-thinking, and success, rather than the transmission of information. The benefits of learner-centered education include increased motivation for learning and greater satisfaction with school; both of these outcomes lead to greater achievement.
Positive School Culture
School Culture affects every choice that a student makes: it determines whether a student attends extra-curricular activities or prepares fr a biology exam. At Uhuru Academy, our students have ownership in their education by creating the school rules, leading classmates in peer counseling, and participating in volunteer opportunities.
Uhuru Academy is founded on a faith in Jesus Christ and the salvation we have in Him. As such, all programs, policies and procedures reflect Biblical principles. The way we treat students, the way we interact as staff and the way we communicate with parents should be guided by humility, grace and love modeled for us by Christ. We endeavor to have an administration and staff who are followers of Christ that can disciple our students and show Christ to all people.
Commitment to Excellence
Uhuru Academy is committed to excellence. We expect all students and staff to be excellent in all things. Thus, we have a high level of accountability for both staff and students. Through monthly teacher evaluations, class meetings and a strict discipline policy, we support and encourage one another to give our utmost for His highest.
Uhuru Academy is partially powered by its parent organization, Freedom Global, which provides merit-based scholarships to outstanding students from impoverished communities. Uhuru Academy celebrates its diversity by unifying itself to impact and inspire others. Click below to learn how our students work together to benefit and support one another and her community.
